50th Anniversary Celebration

It’s official. The El Caminos Club, Bakersfield will host the National Chevy El Caminos 50th Anniversary Celebration, Oct 31 – Nov 1, 2009 at the Four Points Sheraton Ventura Harbor hotel in Ventura Ca. The is an Open car show: any year, make, or model of car, truck, etc. We are now taking reservations as this event will sell out fast.

Twenty six El Caminos, each representing 26 years of production, will be parked next to the stage. Then, first group of registered vehicles will be parked in front of the hotel parking lot close to the ball rooms. The second group of registered vehicles will be placed in the second row, and so on.

It's a Celebration

The1950s brought us an era of automotive innovation that saw cutting-edge styles and out-of-the-box designs such as the Chevy Corvette, Belair,Impala, the Ford Thunderbird, Falcon, and the El Camino. To commemorate the American ingenuity, The 50th Anniversary Celebration will close out a decade of excellence in a huge 2-day event, filled with a 500+ car show, a concert featuring LA Grange Tribute to ZZ Top rock band, vendors, food, and more. Discounted rooms are available as well as security in the parking lot.

For those coming in from the north, there will be a rally point at Apple Annie's in Tulare at 1pm on friday so feel free to plan a stop there and visit with other El Camino participants that are coming to the show. Take the Prosperity exit off of Hwy 99 in Tulare and the restaurant is on the West side of Blackstone Ave.

40.8" Flat-Screen TV Giveaway All event participants in the show will be given a ballot card in their goody bag and will have the opportunity to vote for 1st-5th place winners. The public will also have a chance to buy raffle tickets which allows them cast 1 vote per ticket for their best vehicle. Both of these ballots will be tallied up for the "Best of Show" winner which will be awarded a 40" Flat-Screen TV. Then from the audience votes that were cast, a lucky person's name will be drawn and that person will be awarded a second 40" Flat-Screen TV.

Cruise 4 the NeedyEach November, all of the chapters of ECCB gather in a spirit of brotherhood and cruise around town, giving groceries to families what are struggling during the giving season. We call this The Cruise 4 the Needy.

The idea is to meet at a park on the second weekend of November and fill our elkos' with groceries and 25lb turkeys. We then take a list of families who are having a hard time that year, and cruise around town to their homes. The only thing that the recipient is told is that someone needs to be home from 11:30AM - 1:30PM.

When the person come to the door, they are greeted with four bags of groceries and turkey. No media coverage, no "Look at Me"; just American pride for their fellow man. We then get back in or vehicles and cruise to the next home. We end the day with at potluck at the park and the feeling of being a good person.

Rock the Night AwayA big-budget concert is planned in the evening with a famous rock band as the headliner. We are currently trying to secure the band ZZ Top. The stage will be built on the drag strip at the Starting Line in front of the grandstands. This will give 8,500 people as front row seat. Several bands will be featured throughout the day leading up to the concert in the evening. .

New Year's Eve Party The Finish Line Bar & Grill at the Bakersfield Red Lion Hotel will be the location of ECCB's New Year's Eve Celebration featuring the La Grange Tribute to ZZ Top, December 31, 2008, at 9:00PM. The kitchen will remain open until 11:00PM and special room pricing is available (promo code ECCB). La Grange is on retainer for the Celebration for entertainment and other tribute bands are being auditioned.
