It’s official. The El Caminos Club, Bakersfield will host the National Chevy El Caminos 50th Anniversary Celebration, Oct 31 – Nov 1, 2009 at the historic Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield Ca. The is an Open car show: any year, make, or model of car, truck, etc. We are now taking reservations as this event will sell out fast.

It's a Celebration

The1950s brought us an era of automotive innovation that saw cutting-edge styles and out-of-the-box designs such as the Corvette, the Thunderbird, and the El Camino. To commemorate the American ingenuity, The 50th Anniversary Celebration will close out a decade of excellence in a huge 2-day event, filled with a 1,500+ car show, a big-budget concert featuring a famous rock band, open-header cruising, vendors, food, and more. RV and overnight camping is available as well as VIP parking inside the gates.

Twenty six El Caminos, each representing 26 years of production, will be parked next to the stage. Then, first group of registered vehicles will be parked on the drag strip next to the elkos in front of the grandstands. The second group of registered vehicles will be placed on the Starting Lanes, six rows wide. The third group will be placed in the Grove, and the overflow will be parked next to the Vendor area. The chase lane, paralleling the track will be designated for Open Header cruising throughout the day.

For entertainment, Several bands will be featured throughout the day leading up to the evening concert. A big-budget concert is planned in the evening with a famous rock band as the headliner. We are will announce the headliner as soon as we are able to book them. VIP parking in the facility as well as overnight camping is available. 1959 Chevy El Camino Giveaway

A fully-restored 1959 Chevy El Camino will be given away during the awards ceremony as well as other prizes.

There are several ways to win in the Giveaway, Join the ECCB club, register a vehicle in the show or purchase concert tickets.All of these will be available at the box office, online, and at our sponsoring businesses.

On the reverse side of the event tickets is a ballot in which you can pick your favorite vehicle. These ballots will be tallied up to pick our car show winners including the "Best of Show". vehicle. from these ballots cast, a lucky ticket will be drawn and someone will have the chance to win a 59 El Camino. This car will be featured throughput the year at all of the big shows including SEMA in 2009.

Cruise 4 the Needy

Each November, all of the chapters of ECCB gather in a spirit of brotherhood and cruise around town, giving groceries to families what are struggling during the giving season. We call this The Cruise 4 the Needy.

The idea is to meet at a park on the second weekend of November and fill our elkos' with groceries and 25lb turkeys. We then take a list of families who are having a hard time that year, and cruise around town to their homes. The only thing that the recipient is told is that someone needs to be home from 11:30AM - 1:30PM.

When the person come to the door, they are greeted with four bags of groceries and turkey. No media coverage, no "Look at Me"; just American pride for their fellow man. We then get back in or vehicles and cruise to the next home. We end the day with at potluck at the park and the feeling of being a good person.

Rock the Night Away

A big-budget concert is planned in the evening with a famous rock band as the headliner. We are currently trying to secure the band ZZ Top. The stage will be built on the drag strip at the Starting Line in front of the grandstands. This will give 8,500 people as front row seat. Several bands will be featured throughout the day leading up to the concert in the evening.

New Year's Eve Party

The Finish Line Bar & Grill at the Bakersfield Red Lion Hotel will be the location of ECCB's New Year's Eve Celebration featuring the La Grange Tribute to ZZ Top, December 31, 2008, at 9:00PM. The kitchen will remain open until 11:00PM and special room pricing is available (promo code ECCB).
